Other than that we had a wonderful time and we went on a big shopping spree!
We came home with 5 beautiful new pieces of ceramic. Soon I will take pictures of the new pieces to show you in a next post.

On to other happenings …
After long contemplating I decided to close my Etsy shop. Do you know Etsy has millions of sellers on their site? So to compete with all these it took me at least 2 hours or more per day to promote my shop on Etsy and I think that is just too much. After all we have to make jewelry don’t we? And offcourse our jewelry remains for sale at our Atelier and online store

I like to say a big thanks to all of those Etsy sellers who where so very kind to me. They helped me and promoted my shop whenever they had a chance.

Today I like to mention these two …

As some of you already know I am a really big fan of the clothing of 13Threads.
It is flattering for your figure, very well made, fashionable yet timeless …
Right now Lois is working on a whole new collection and I like to show you the first two fantastic dresses.

The weather was nice and we walked along the stands for hours… This international fair is held in a parc and afterwards we always relax at a small lake, our minds full of the beautiful things we have seen and let the dogs go for a swim.

He makes sturdy pieces and I think his work has beautiful shapes. Too bad his website is only in German.
He will be at Keramisto, the big International Potters Fair in September.

For reasons I never really new, lots of artists and crafts people lived all around us in that area. Was it the cheap housing… the beautiful countryside? Anyway… near our house was this small potters community. Around 15 people mainly from all over the U.S. but I also remember a potter from England, lived in these old small wooden houses with a studio attached to it. Because all the crafts people came from various educational backgrounds, it was interesting to see their different styles. Traditional pottery, colorful, sober, modern and contemporary pottery but also crummy pottery, it was all there. It was a great opportunity for me to learn more about ceramics and I think that is where my love for this discipline started.

I started to collect and until this day I try to visit all the fairs where professional potters sell their craft. One of those fairs is Keramisto. The fair has hundreds of stands with ceramists from all over Europe. This international event takes pace in the southern part of Holland on September 19 and 20.

By the way…I looked up Watkinsville, the tiny village we once lived in. Guess what… these days the village calls itself “The Artland of Georgia,” and has become booming, with posh art galleries and a thriving arts community. And the English potter Geoff Pickett still lives there. WeI I’ll be darned…
