Though I am a person who likes modern architecture, this picture is pretty like a postcard don’t you think? This country estate is named de Slotplaats and is situated on the edge of Bakkeveen, a little town in Friesland, The Netherlands.

Build as a farm in the 18e century it ones belonged to the former castle Het Blauwhuus. The owner was the so-called grietman Aylva van Burmania. In the 1920’s baron Johan van Harinxma drastically renovated the place and nowadays it looks more like a villa than a farm.

By the way, at present de Slotplaats is in use as a teahouse where one can eat delicious homemade muffins!
