In a previous post I talked about the fascinating outdoor dinners that American Jim Denevan organized.

The other day I came to the site of Sjef Meijerman and saw him doing something similar in the Netherlands. In his work Sjef deals with the origin of matters, he is strongly fascinated by the basic relation between man and his surroundings.
He is interested in (ecological) food, agriculture and our perception of nature.

The photos show a project what is called ‘Eating with cows’.
You were warmly received by the ‘ladies’ and then alongside many other delicacies the products of the cows were served.

Unfortunately this project is already over. Go to the site to see what more Sjef organizes.

This house must be very near where I live. I like the shape, the location and the materials of the house a lot. I like sturdy houses, but I can’t really tell from the picture how the house must be to live in…

This unique barn house design by JagerJanssen Architects has made a modern statement in the small town of just 1,500 homes, nestled in the northern part of The Netherlands. Overlooking water and surrounded by a magnificent landscape, this contemporary design comes in the form of an old-fashioned barn with a newfangled twist. Wrapped in clear “skin”, this house features a roof and facade of anthracite-colored corrugated sheets, strategically placed so as to allow entry of natural light and the surrounding views. Inside, this barn house features a “soft” look with walls clad in light woods, and a spacious layout. The home’s basement level is slightly above grade, creating a podium and placing the main level one meter above the ground, lending it a unique floating feeling.
