Peter Hiemstra is a visual artist who creates narratives in a cartoon sort of way.

The visual narratives often take somewhere between bizarre and witty, honest and vulnerable.

Peter Hiemstra lives and works in Oldeberkoop, The Netherlands and works primarily in clay. But also wood, stone, metal, textiles and plastics are used for his sculptures and objects.

I am real happy with my new ceramic purchases!

This is the 4^th time we are going to visit Keramisto, a huge international ceramics fair. Since this is an outside affair in a park adjacent to a small lake we allways take the dogs and a big picknick with us. Because believe it or not, whenever we visited Keramisto the weather was beautiful!

Keramisto takes place coming weekend, September 17 and 18, 2011 in Milsbeek, The Netherlands.

Lois of 13 Threads was so kind to pass this pigeon post to me. So… if even the famous blog Swiss-Miss talks about pigeons surly I can? Remember the ugly baby pigeon born in my pigeon coop only 4 weeks ago? Here it is much more good looking don’t you think?

For the last couple of days we had very nice weather and suddenly everything popped out of the ground in my little herb garden.

In a few days, the paintings will be delivered and we can start setting up the exhibition. Now that will be really fun to do!

Dinie Boogaart is a realistic painter. Color, light and clair-obscur are the main defining elements in the paintings of Dinie. Among other things she is known for her beautiful Frisian landscapes.

On Saturday 26 and Sunday, March 27 from 11.00 -18.00 hours we change our home in an elegant exhibition space.
Those days we open our home to anyone who likes to be surprised by art and jewelry.

This is the only English I could find on the site of dterra. The collective is based in Sant Cugat del Vallès in Spain and makes among other things beautiful pottery. Furthermore the pictures show rings made of ceramic combined with silver.

I think it’s pretty amazing work and that’s about all I can tell you… Anybody speaks Spanish?

Unfortunately her work is not for sale online but her site is a feast for the eyes.

Her work has appeared in Café Life New York, as well as in several catalogs from Morozoff, the Japanese maker of chocolate, cake and other confectioneries. She has also shown at galleries in Soho and Tribeca.

Royal Tichelaar Makkum was established in 1594 and is the oldest company in The Netherlands. Out of love for the profession Royal Tichelaar Makkum still has a traditional production process. The only remaining company in the Netherlands fully specializes in ceramic handwork.

The main raw material – clay – is extracted from local soil. Tichelaar continued to invest in its traditional base, even when public interest in crafts in the late 20th century collapsed. That insistence resulted in the leading position the company now has in the design world.

Hella Jongerius

Nowadays they are not only famous for their traditional Delft Blue pottery but also for a number of projects with leading Dutch designers such as Marcel Wanders, Hella Jongerius, and Jurgen Bey.

Studio Job designed their Biscuit collection especially for Royal Tichelaar.

At the site of the current pottery in Makkum is baked clay without interruption since 1572.
