Experiment with a purple link …

This was an experiment I did last year … purple ornamental onions in my flower border …

There are other people who love purple … this beautiful purple maxi dress is a design by 13Threads.

Despite the beautiful weather we have done other things. There is a new design cuff link ​​and we had a photo session.

The ring below is in our collection for some time now. It is a diamond shaped ring inlaid with walnut. The ring looks rather large, once on the finger it is a very elegant shape.

The shape of the diamond and the wood is repeated in these silver cuff links …

And this is our PICASSO ring. In silver with plexiglass. I made the silver on top of the ring black on purpose so the bright colors would stand out even more.

The beautiful white flowers come from wild garlic.  When we were making photo’s of our jewelry the plant was in bloom. The leaves are edible and taste delicious!

It’s a pretty long drive to Karlsruhe, that’s part of the reason we never went to Eunique. This year we were absolutely planning a visit but unfortunately we could not find a sitter for our 2 dogs.
So now Jan, my partner is going by himself on his motorbike.

The bowls are made two years ago ​by my partner Jan Kerkstra in consultation with the client.

The request of the client was to make small silver bowls with big “handles” that are easy to hold. Recent the customer came to us with the request to make matching spoons.

I am not sure if you can tell but the spoons lie on the edge / handle of the bowls. The spoons are curved and have the same shape as the handles on which they lie. The spoon of the small bowl on the right is curved too and forms an arch above the bowl.

Did you know that shiny silver is one of the hardest things to photograph?

This insect habitat is made by  URBAN LADYBIRD.  COCOON is handmade in London using organic cotton, waxed with beeswax from Britain to waterproof material and keep the insects dry. The house can be attached anywhere.

This is Susan Bauer with her beautiful work, all inspired by nature … These objects are made of Magnolia leaves  and cotton yarn.

Photographer Hans Silvester’s recent work features the Surma and Mursi people of the Omo Valley in southern Ethiopia, presenting the beauty of the tribes ancient tradition of temporary body decoration. They use things like flowers, seed pods, buffalo horn, melons, stems, snail shells, feather … jewelry from nature. See more here and here.

This was the third year our atelier was part of the Open Atelier Route. Despite the bad weather the interest was large and in two weekends around 200 people visited our workshop to get an impression how our jewelry are designed and made. Due to bad weather I do not have any pictures. Instead I like to show you my flower meadow in the making … it is not very clear in this photo but in the two squares planes in the back the grass may grow long and I have sown (wild) flowers.

And … this is the miracle of my Hostas in front of the studio who are for a change not completely eaten by snails this year …

… previous years there were big holes in the leaves …

And oh yeah … despite the busy days we found the time to make a new ring for our series “Flying Saucers”. A large silver ring with an Amazon opal set in a little basel of 18karaat gold.
