The name: Blue D1653; Blue for Delftware, 1653 for the founding year of Royal Delft and D for design.

Call it contemporary nostalgia, new originality or the purest form of Dutch Design …

Peter Hiemstra is a visual artist who creates narratives in a cartoon sort of way.

The visual narratives often take somewhere between bizarre and witty, honest and vulnerable.

Peter Hiemstra lives and works in Oldeberkoop, The Netherlands and works primarily in clay. But also wood, stone, metal, textiles and plastics are used for his sculptures and objects.

What began as a glaze assignment grew into this wonderful art work SCHWARM by artist RaR (Reinheimer and Ulrike Beate Rehm).

Dozens of ceramic beetles each with a diameter of 30 cm centimeter crawling over the entire museum wall.

Lubna studied 3D Design at Manchester Polytechnic and at the Royal College of Art where she was awarded an M.A. in ceramics and glass.

She makes beautiful tiles for the home …

… and also public art commissions, like this magnificent composition of hand-glazed tiles commissioned by St. Georges Hospital in London as part of
the refurbishment of their hydrotherapy pool.

The luxuriousness and beautiful intensity of many of her glazes is achieved through glaze layering and multiple firings.

Lubna’s designs are available from her online shop. An exclusive selection of tiles designed for Agnes Emery is available in the Emery and Cie shops in Paris, Antwerp and Brussels.

A bespoke range of commissioned products is available from Margaret Howell shops worldwide.

Jacomijn van der Donk uses twigs, pebbles and paintbrushes in her beautiful jewelry.

This is Bob. Bob loves sniffing around, walking, not listening and stealing sandwiches from the kitchen sink. But most of all Bob loves sleeping.

Vroonland is led by designer Sjoerd Vroonland and product developer Arjan Vaandrager (V&V), operating their label since 2010, with chairs as a thread.

Actually V&V their stand was on the Woonbeurs, an interior design event what took place at the same time in the same building as Meesterlijk.

The ‘Saddle stool’ is inspired by the handcrafted leather bicycle saddle.
Vroonland recently won an award,  the YNG TLNT Pin, for their design.

I am real happy with my new ceramic purchases!

Other than that we had a wonderful time and we went on a big shopping spree!
We came home with 5 beautiful new pieces of ceramic. Soon I will take pictures of the new pieces to show you in a next post.

On to other happenings …
After long contemplating I decided to close my Etsy shop. Do you know Etsy has millions of sellers on their site? So to compete with all these it took me at least 2 hours or more per day to promote my shop on Etsy and I think that is just too much. After all we have to make jewelry don’t we? And offcourse our jewelry remains for sale at our Atelier and online store

I like to say a big thanks to all of those Etsy sellers who where so very kind to me. They helped me and promoted my shop whenever they had a chance.
