For the last twenty years she has worked primarily with paper creating intricate sculptures that often resemble urchins, coral and other underwater life.

Sheila Hicks weaves in unique ways art, craft and architecture in her work.
She makes paint less paintings, textile graffiti and autonomous installations.

Sheila was born in 1934 in Hastings, Nebraska and received her BFA and MFA degrees from Yale University. Upon completing her studies at Yale Hicks received a Fulbright scholarship in 1957 to paint in Chile.

While in South America she developed her interest in working with fibers. After founding workshops in Mexico, Chile, and South Africa, and working in Morocco and India, she now divides her time between her Paris studio and New York.

Until March 4, 2012 Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, The Netherlands presents an installation of hundreds small weaving (Minimes) made by artist Sheila Hicks in ​​the last 50 years.

“Shop till you drop” stencil in London by Banksy?

A new stencil that looks to be the work of street artist Banksy appeared in London.

Banksy is the pseudonym of a world renowned British artist. Although there is little certainty about the true identity of Banksy and most sources indicate that his real name is Robert or Robin Banks, he is probably called Robin Gunningham.

He was born in 1973 in Bristol. His artwork is often political and humorous in nature. His street art combines graffiti with his characteristic template technique. His street work is found in various European cities as well as outside Europe in the Palestinian territories and the United States. More works on Banksy.

What began as a glaze assignment grew into this wonderful art work SCHWARM by artist RaR (Reinheimer and Ulrike Beate Rehm).

Dozens of ceramic beetles each with a diameter of 30 cm centimeter crawling over the entire museum wall.

Sietske Bosma graduated in 2007 at the Minerva Academy in Groningen, The Netherlands. She began school at her fiftieth and exchanged her birthplace Heerenveen for Groningen, a city with a creative environment.

In 2007 she won the Allianz Grafiekprijs with her beautiful work.

“I try experimenting with the traditional woodcut  to give it a new impulse. When the process of printing is done I edite the conception by drawing or scratching in it. This gives my work a special look; not immediately recognizable as a graphic.”

November 26 and 27, 2011 Sietske Bosma’s shows her work at Kunst op Nienoord in Leek, Groningen, The Netherlands.

I was given an old spoon, found on the road and probably bent over by a lorry, to turn into a Christening present for a little boy called Louis –

The spoon was embedded in a two part cement casket…

and encased in a crochet coat.
