As some of you know I am a big fan of ceramic art. I have a small collection of vessels and pots that I collected over the years from potters all over the world. Every year we visit two big international ceramic events; The Internationale Keramiktage in Oldenburg, Germany and Keramisto near Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
I am particuarly fond of simple shapes and graphic patterns. An artist who combines both these things is Lara Scobie …
… she makes beautiful delicate porcelain vessels, using simple forms and marks the surface of the vessels with with minimal, graphics and abstract decorations.
Lara studied ceramics at Camberwell College of Arts in London and has a Post Graduate from Edinburgh College of Art. I believe she lives and works in Edinburgh and has been making ceramics for over 20 years. Throughout her career she exhibited extensively with work in both private and public collections.
And … since a few weeks I am the owner of one of Lara’s great vessels!
