“Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” Coco Chanel
Posing here is top Model Saskia Braauw in the famous Chanel jacket.
The jacket is part of the Chanel suit. Few designs had such a huge influence on fashion as that particular suit. The (skirt) suit it is part of the Chanel collection since 1926, it is the traditional symbol of French elegance and femininity.
Maybe hard to imagine today, but back then it was a revolutionary design because of the fitting, which gave women more freedom of movement.
Coco Chanel
A tribute to the jacket will be released this fall; a thick photo book: The Little Black Jacket …
… Chanel’s classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld.
The book is a collection of 113 photographs of celebrities posing in the famous black jacket from Chanel.

I never liked the classic Chanel suit until I saw a wonderful documentary about the Chanel seamstresses and Mme Pouzieux who handmade the Chanel braid in the attic of her horse farm, on a loom she built herself. I now look at this suit very differently.
I like the idea of ‘The Little Black Jacket” and look forward to seeing all the glossy photos and the many ways it can be worn and styled.

Now that you mention it … didn’t you have a post about that? I remember Mme Pouzieux being this tiny lady of about hundred years old? Or did I see it on TV? Too bad I did not come across that video. I found a video about a seamstress actually making the jacket but that was only interesting if you were a seamstress yourself, at least that was what I thought. Incredibly good craftsmanship though …
