Is luxury to be found in the outrageously expensive, or rather in precious and unique objects?
Johanna Törnqvist is educated in fashion design, ceramics and image therapy, and has worked in Paris, New York and Japan. Today she lives and works in Stockholm. Her neck ribbons were exhibited at the Röhsska Museum of Fashion, Design and Decorative Arts in Gothenburg.

Johanna Törnqvist wants to erase the boundaries between craft, fashion and folklore and give a new perspective of what folklore is today. She made neck ribbons out of small pieces of ribbon, lace and buttons that she found in her grandmothers house.

Blurry lines indeed! I am always confused by what defines something as a work of art/fashion or a piece of craftwork/folklore. A differing value and worth is definitely implied by these terms.
Again, another thought provoking and very beautiful post, Marion. And I would love one of those neck pieces.

Thank you Lois, Do you know we don’t even have a proper word for craft in our language?
