In the 70′s of the last century Maria Hees was part of a unique group of designers in The Netherlands. After 30 years she still continuous to make designs witch I find innovative and modern.

These beautiful bags of Maria Hees are for sale at Wannekes. Wannekes sells online fashion and designer accessories at the interface of applied art and design. Interiors stylist Tanneke Neessen compiled the collection in this exquisite webshop. They carry famous Dutch designers like Studio Job, Jurgen Bey and many others.

Maria used a Smock-technique on the purple and the black bag. The bags seem to be inspired by Arabian architecture…

Marion, are these made from leather? They are really beautiful – love the colours. I have been trying out some smocking, shirring and folding techniques with fabrics for some different textures. I need more practise!

The smock-pattern in those bags is really nice, don’t you think Lois?
I also like smock details in clothing. From what I see in the clothing you make you are already pretty good at folding ?
Considering Maria Hees is a very famous lady here in Holland, the bags who are indeed made of leather, are not that high in price…
I added a direct link to the bags and their description in the post (in English)
