Lately I am intrigued and fascinated by artists, architects and other creative people who make big installations, sculptures and even buildings made of natural materials. Many names are used for this type of art form; ecological art, nature art or natural architecture.

Patrick Dougherty has a background as a carpenter. He still is a wood craftsman but these days he is best described as an artist and sculptor. He makes and shapes living trees into amazing natural tree buildings.

These are amazing and wee bit spooky looking! I have only ever driven through Dingwall but Close Ties would definitely give me a reason to stop now.
