Thanks to fashion designer Alexander van Slobbe the Netherlands is known as an international fashion country. Alexander van Slobbe was ahead of his time.
As a reaction against materialism he often makes use of traditional techniques by craftsmen.
His womens label Orson + Bodil exist for 20 years. To celebrate this there is a great exhibition, Stof tot nadenken, in the Central Museum in Utrecht.

Typically is his frequent collaboration with other artists, designers or labels, such as graphic designer Harmen Liemburg, felt designer Claudy Jongstra, painter Marc Mulders, Puma and Royal Tichelaar, Makkum.

Wow, Marion, talk about inspirational designers! I love his work. I had a look at the Orson + Bodil website and my ‘want’ list just got longer. I would love to go to the exhibition. Thank you for this.

I wonder what makes designers brains different to people like me who whilst I appreciate their art , even love it, I just can’t comprehend how they conceived the idea in the first place. But I guess if it makes you think or inspire’s you then it’s worked on some level. More please Marion.
