It's just near the railway station. Trains for Amsterdam are scheduled every 10 minutes and in 15-20 you're in Grand Central Amsterdam. Zaandam is a very nice place, so enjoy! I've never seen anything like the first building, I'm sure it's very safe but to the untrained eye it looks quite precarious. :) The typical Dutch houses are absolutely beautiful, we visited a wonderful village on the coast that was mersmerising. Very unusual boats in the harbour with stalls selling lovely freshly cooked food and a maze of darkly painted houses sporting colourful flags.
