The other day I came across this exceptional house on one of my favourite blogs, Sub-Studio. The house is designed for two teachers and their children. The roof of the house is one giant set of stairs, which allows loads of natural light into the house, while still maintaining a private interior. Too bad I could not find more information about the “Stair House” because the architectural studio Y+M Design, who designed “Stair House” only has information on the site in Japanese. But I wanted to show you these beautiful pictures anyway…
Please take a look at the comment Jennifer gave. She gave additional info and even more photos of the Stair House!

That is such a novel house in western parts Marion. My daughter-in-law sent me a little of the translation:
“Based on the request from the customer, a bright and warm house that people come and get together, y+m designed the stair house that adopts to Japan’s four seasons. – cutting sunlight/heat in summer, taking in sunlight in winter
You can see how the stairs work for sunlight, and the airstream. And they have access to the bath direct from outside that is convenient when they come back from the beach nearby.”
There’s more photo’s of the building at –

Thanks for the link, housing is always intriguing.
